Workplace Yoga

Many companies are beginning to discover the benefits of having regular yoga and meditation instruction during the working week.

A recent New York Times article by David Gelles, A C.E.O.'s Management By Mantra, discusses how companies are not only incorporating wellness programs into their workplaces, but also reaping the benefits as well. Yoga in the workplace is designed to improve employees’ health, to help employees be more present minded and to provide them with the yoga ‘know-how’ to mentally and physically refresh whenever needed.

“Government reports also say the average workweek has grown from 40 hours in the 1990s to as much as an average of 49 hours currently."

Yoga has long been proven to decrease stress levels so it seems natural to introduce yoga into the workplace. The company benefits with lower absenteeism and lower health care costs. Employees reap many benefits as well:
  • Improved concentration and decision-making skills
  • Pain relief from repetitive motion injuries
  • Pain relief from long periods of sitting or heavy lifting
  • Enhanced mental outlook leading to a better customer service attitude
  • A feeling of well-being in the workplace and of being valued

Boost Morale! Who doesn’t enjoy having well-being activities offered at work? Getting to try a yoga class for free, while bonding with your co-workers is a benefit that far exceeds the time spent in the room together.

All this can be achieved by practicing yoga from the comfort of your very own office chair or workplace.

The ideal antidote to days spent seated at a desk. A typical yoga class will stretch, strengthen and tone the whole body, inducing feelings of calm and relaxation. Contributing towards good posture and reducing lower back pain.

No room to roll out yoga mats? No problem. An Office Chair Yoga class will allow you to practice yoga , even if you're short on space. In a chair yoga class postures are done from seated or standing by your chair, specifically tailored to alleviate the aches and pains of desk-bound work and can easily be practiced at a desk, whilst wearing your work clothes.

Classes can be adapted to run anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.
